Review on ๐Ÿ”ฅ High Performance 50W, 23ft Zoo Med Reptile Heat Cable by Susan Vaughn

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works well but check how long you need the heated section before you buy.

Purchased on recommendation of a reptile cage manufacturer who insisted it was the best and safest heating option on the market. I really wish it was between the 52 and 23 foot cable I had to buy. Now I see it's 39 feet, which would be nice. The faulty cable at 52 and 23 feet is only about 6 feet long. But while 52 radiated 45 feet of heat, 23 radiated only 15 feet. It took me about 20 feet, of course. I had a custom 5 tub adult python rack that I ended up having to pay for an extension as the 52ft cord cannot be twisted for safety and the 23ft cord was dead enough despite being the correct length. Room he could not properly heat more than 3 baths. As a result, stuck with both cables. Partly the builder's fault, who told me to buy them, insisting they were the right length, unboxing and installing them before realizing they wouldn't work, partly Zoo Med's fault for that he had not specified how long the actual heated section is. Again they seem to have updated this since I bought it as it now clearly shows on the Amazon page. The builder said they weren't listed on the box when I sent them to him or he wouldn't have opened them. Once installed in my 10 tube snake rack, the longer cable worked fine. I clipped it to my thermostat and it keeps the warm spot on my counter at a comfortable temperature. The smaller one worked for 3 baths while I was installing it.
