Revainrating 1 out of 5

REVIEW UPDATED! I no longer recommend it.

UPDATE OVERVIEW 11/26/21. I bought 4500 sqm. feet in July. Even without the use of 24/7, he died completely at the end of October. Can't recommend this dehumidifier more highly and have adjusted my star rating accordingly. I've owned three similar capacity dehumidifiers in the last decade and this is the only one that failed so quickly. It was great while he was working, but one day he decided to stop voiding. In the interests of fairness, I leave my original review below. ORIGINAL REVIEW from July 2021. I tried this dehumidifier despite the fact that there are very few product reviews. I've been using it in a partially subterranean prefab basement for a few months. Does not need drainage all year round---only in summer and early fall. So I settled on this block, which is bigger than I need space (if I ever need to expand it to the whole house). This thing pulls the water out sooooo fast! Much faster than the similarly sized Danby it replaced. What Danby did in 2-3 hours, this Clevast did in 40 minutes. (Again, the capacity is almost identical to that of the device being replaced). I was pleasantly surprised and more than impressed. With this device, expect me to empty the bucket frequently! Outstanding moisture absorption! My basement doesn't have any major moisture problems - the wood surfaces need to be mindful of the humidity - and I STILL have to empty the bucket more than once a day. So if you have a moisture problem, this dehumidifier is for you, but be prepared to have to connect a hose to a drain where humidity levels are consistently high. It's not that the bucket is small, it's perfectly adequate - actually larger than most dehumidifiers of this capacity - but the unit draws water from the air very quickly. noise level. Everything is relative. I don't find it any louder than the Danby it replaced and people can sleep well with it as long as it works in the same spot. This Clevast is fairly quiet at low speeds---comparable to my LG 8K BTU air conditioner at medium speeds. Portability. For a dehumidifier of this size, I'd say it's one of the few truly portable dehumidifiers. Yes, 45 pounds is a lot, but this device is thin (not boxy like most) and has handles on top. I have minimal trouble moving it up/down stairs when needed. With handles on the top edges, this actually means you don't necessarily have to lift it to get up the stairs. You can pull it out somehow ;) The grips are deep enough to make it a good buy for any hand size. The wheels are large enough to roll easily even on thicker carpets. Bucket. Easily detachable, the capacity is slightly larger than most devices of this size, the opaque color lets you see when it needs cleaning, and it's easy to handle when full as the handle position is fully balanced when lifted. A little trick to get the bucket back in place is to put it in the bottom first and then the top. Once you get the hang of it, it's very easy - far easier than many others I've dealt with in the past that required strength to transmit. So why not a 5 star rating? Well, because the controls are labeled in gray on a black background! Difficult to read! Like any such unit, it also generates heat, BUT unlike the similarly sized and powered unit it replaced, it generates MUCH more heat. Luckily, my basement has outside ventilation, so that's a little less of an issue. Otherwise I would have had to send the device back. Even with ventilation. By extracting the air and only functioning when the outside humidity is above 60%, the Clevast dehumidifier raises the temperature in a cool basement well above the 80°F mark. Danby, whom he replaced, never kept up. above 78˙F, even when operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On the other hand - and for this reason it was left in spite of the heating - this device does not have to be operated 24 hours a day, 7 days a week because it dries the room very quickly. It's fast enough to just run it overnight or to quickly remove moisture when needed (I often just run it for an hour in the morning to remove moisture that's set in overnight). I've had several dehumidifiers over the years and none have been as effective, efficient or fast as this Clevast. When I first got it to test its effectiveness, I put it on a stack of [washed] towels - about 5 large cotton towels and about a dozen hand and kitchen towels - and it dried the whole batch of them in two hours. So this unit can actually do the job of a dryer for a significantly lower cost AND heat a room for you in the process ;) Another punch is the comfort setting. It doesn't work as well as modes that let you set the humidity independently. The device runs louder, faster and longer than other modes where you set the humidity level you want to maintain. in summary. I recommend the device for the performance. The visibility of the control labels (gray letters on a black background) is a bit difficult in poorly lit areas (even for people like me who don't wear glasses). In my experience, the device generates more heat than an alternative of similar size and performance, but also dries much faster. Be prepared to attach a drain hose to it as you won't be able to empty the bucket as often as necessary. Nevertheless, I would recommend this device without reservation, even if I cannot give it 5 stars. Its performance is superb and would make me overlook the issues noted. A NOTICE. The above rating refers to the 4500 square meters. feet
