Works. I mostly use (2) knives. I had an old, third, blunt knife that I didn't throw away. I used this sharpener on the third knife (and I sharpen almost every time), it worked noticeably the first time. Sharpening every other time, even for just a few moves, is all that's needed, if at all. But then again, this sharpener works. I like a little more weight. I like that it's strong. I. I like that it fits easily in a drawer. (I opted for a large sharpener instead of a counter.) Ultimately, I recommend this sharpener for several reasons. Very happy with the purchase.
