No extra support sewn around the shoe. Where there are camouflage elements on this shoe, these are simply printed onto the upper. On the Scram 3, this piece was actually a piece of material surrounding the upper. They are really narrow compared to the previous Asics I've bought probably 20+ pairs over the last few years. The insoles are useless in most new ones, I recently sent a pair back because the insole they put in doesn't even cover the insole of the shoe. Not very good as Asics has been my favorite shoe for many years. If you need a more durable trail or hiking shoe, get the Gel-Kahana 8 before they change it.
