I bought this wireless router to expand my existing wired home network. We have 2 laptops and I wanted them to be used wirelessly. The router installation took only 30 minutes. In my situation, I'm not using the router's firewall capabilities (because I already have a wired firewall), so it took me 15 minutes to figure out that the existing network connection should be connected to a WAN port, not a WAN port. network connections. After that, I had to use a configuration utility to assign an IP address to the router (by default it has the same address as my firewall, which is a big no-go). After that I downloaded a firmware update from support.dlink.com (update is required to activate the maximum speed available in the latest version). One reboot and I'm good to go. One last piece of advice. Do not turn on WEP (encryption) until you have your first wireless connection. Once you've done that, go back to the setup tool, enable WEP, and enter your 10-digit passcode (you'll need to do the same for each of your wireless PCs as well). This will make your home wireless network much more secure. In case you're wondering, I've used a DLink wireless PC card (DWL-G650) and found it to work very well with this router. The whole setup was very easy and the DLink configuration interface is excellent. I highly recommend this device.
