Doesn't work on Mac

I bought this after ignoring a review that said it didn't work on a 2018 MacBook Pro because another reviewer noted that the cable was short but open an iMac worked. Thing is, it didn't work for me on any of my Macs. 2018 MacBook Pro and 2017 iMac 27 inch. Good idea, but the card just won't mount on the Mac. Instead, I bought a Sony and it worked on my Macs right away.
