These homemade acid peels really worked surprisingly well. I've had acne for years and after taking Accutane I still get acne and clogged pores around my chin all the time. I did a professional mild chemical peel and it seems to have really started to clear my skin. They are recommended all the time, but for at least six sessions, which cost hundreds of dollars. I thought I'd do a scrub shot at home. This money is worth it. I kept seeing the skin clear up. I haven't had any new breakouts while using them and haven't since. I've found that old acne scars become shallower but also redden a little, almost like fresh scars. I think that with constant use of scrubs, they will go away. Most of the slight discoloration on my skin has disappeared. Overall my pores have gotten smaller, my skin is clearer and old scars seem to have faded a bit. I also recently purchased an Exuviance 2-Step Peel (purchased from Ulta) for comparison. From what I can tell, they work a little better and faster, but they're $79 for a box of 13. Update: I bought them again after finishing Exuviance. These actually work better. I see instant results with them and my skin looks better than it has in years. This is also half the cost. I repurchased these after trying another product that was driving my skin crazy. After the first use my skin started to clear up and within a week my skin looked almost completely recovered.
