I bought this to go to the local coffee shop. It was a great fit for my laptop, but I was uncomfortable carrying it around with me. The key is one of those barrel shaped keys that doesn't really fit my existing keychain either. I can't say if this ever stopped the theft, but I still have my laptop. (At least it's a preventive measure, if someone REALLY needs a laptop they can get one.) I've noticed that my laptop looks a bit flimsy and I felt like I could just yank it out of the laptop, but it could just be mine dv7.
