13 month old loves this toy and is learning how to use the pens quickly. small pegs and color matching. They are the perfect size for his small hands. He still says them, so we urge him not to. I don't think they're small enough to actually choke him, but he sticks them in far enough to close his mouth. The little pens are small enough that we don't leave them with him in his play area, but put them on a bench for him to play with while we're tending to him. Since he talks less, we'll leave them in his play area. Perfect for any parenting approach, but also fits our Montessori approach.
