So I can't comment on the actual ability of these bad guys to open cans. I bought them for non-traditional use. After watching a tutorial video on YouTube on how to use these silicone can openers to quickly move my DSLR's focus wheel, I was intrigued and wanted to try it myself. It definitely works and is a cheap alternative to more expensive devices made specifically for this purpose. I've used them in several videos and they're much more convenient and smoother than manually switching focus each time. I highly recommend using one of the specially made pens to mark the focus stops on your wheel for the smoothest possible transition.
