When I first received this phone a year ago, I noticed a loud buzzing in the handset (like a chainsaw) if you didn't keep your finger on the charging contacts during a call or if you were using an additional headset. This phone also lacks a dual keypad, meaning you have to dial from the handset first and then turn on the speakerphone on the base. I found this very impractical. Using a headset (not included) makes this a little less of a hassle. The "backup battery" I installed in the base (optional from VTech) does not retain core functionality when power is removed (losing time anyway). However, the second battery allows you to make and receive calls when the power goes out. Now a year later the phone cuts out from time to time so you can't hear the person on the line and about half a dozen rings are now cut off. I will NEVER buy a wireless product from VTech again!
