Reviews about the terrible smell of plastic are 100% true. It is NOT a subtle scent. This odor is likely caused by methyl mercaptan, a chemical used in the plastics industry. Unfortunately, these nose pads have a sufficient concentration of this chemical to give off a STRONG odor. According to the CDC (and other sources), methyl mercaptan is highly irritating when in contact with moist tissue such as the eyes, skin, and upper respiratory tract. It can also cause headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, coma, and death. Do you really want those pads on the bridge of your nose? Something obviously went wrong during manufacture. I ordered another brand that didn't have that smell and the risks that came with it.
