Most of these media converters bind you to Ethernet 100 fixed speed or Gig-e. It's not, and that's great. Suppose you put on a pair of these with a fiber in the middle - each ethernet port on either end can have a bandwidth of 100 or 1000 Mbit/s. As a switch port with automatic detection. TP-Links don't do this - if there's 100MB on one end and Gig on the other, it won't work. You will be. I can't speak to their long-term reliability (yet) - although I will if I run into any issues. I also like how the screw loosens to remove the device as a card that can be placed in a rack. with optional dual power supply. For a few bucks more you can add an SMNP module to keep track of them. Another neat thing is the way the LEDs work - if there is a fault (either downlink etc) the amber light will illuminate. If everything works, then green. You can see at a glance whether there are any errors in your bank. I use them with Mikrotik bi-directional SFP modules for single fiber optic channels. I'll update with reliability issues if I find some of them fooling around.
