I purchased a low-end brand name sound bar for our TV. Although it could get quite loud, it did not help my failing hearing. The ZVOX works for me. If the higher the voice assist level you use, the more treble you get. I use only the second level and I can now here 99% of dialogue. I recommend giving it a try, especially with the 30-day trial. What have you got to lose? FWIW, i can't make a comparison myself, but the sound quality seems fine to me. I don't know how it would compare to an real audiophile level sound system, but that was not my reason for the purchase.
