I bought this knowing that it was going to be too long. In fact, 6 inches too long for where I wanted to put it. I added this as part of my zoom background for teaching and college. Knowing that I had the tools necessary, I knew that I needed to take off 3 inches each end. I rolled out my table saw, and began to cut each of the shelves to take off 3 inches per side of the shelves. From my pictures, you can see that the wood is actually hollow inside, with two support beams through it to prevent warping if you put something heavy on it. I then thinly sliced the ends of the scrap board I removed with the table saw to cover up the sides that had those rectangular holes. I then counter-sunk 4 nails per side to finish it off.All in all, this is a great budget-friendly shelf. I am happy with it, and glad that I am able to make it fit where I needed it to be.
