We used to have a cooling mat from another company but when we got a second dog we realized we needed a second mat in our hot summer weather! But now no dog wants to use the old one because they like the new one so much more! Pros: - I like the separate gel sections. Our other rug has foam on the inside surrounded by gel and after a year or so the underlay has moved closer to one end leaving a large portion of PVC. Good to know there won't be any problems with this rug! It's heavy and filled with gel! It definitely looks like we got our money's worth. - The cooling effect is the same as our old one. Both dogs love it. - Since there is no foam inside, you can feel the bottom where the gel comes off. We solved that with our super cheap bed/box inserts (also from Revain) underneath and they seem more comfortable. They also like to have a place to relax. Would definitely recommend and will probably buy a second one if we need it!
