So I'm going to be very honest with this product because I almost gave it 1 star but I'm going to give it 2 stars instead. At first, like others, I almost thought that this product was defective because everything I took with it and evaluated gave the same result (from 6.5 to 7.5 pH), including a bottle of water that was used as was characterized as basic 9.0 pH. Then I went on YouTube and saw that a couple of water bottles and a couple of things were rated as alkaline when they weren't, so I started to wonder who the liar is? And then the experiments with this product began. Folks, in all honesty, the best way to find out if your product really works is with the baking soda and vinegar test. These are the only two elements that are definitely acidic or basic. Drinks can vary, and even when the bottle says they're alkaline (like mine), they sometimes lie. Vinegar is obviously acidic and baking soda is obviously alkaline. Steps: 1. Take a small cup, pour in about 3 tablespoons of water and mix with a teaspoon of baking soda. You increase the amount of baking soda you want. Make sure the water is distilled, spring or regular tap water as these have a fairly neutral pH. Stir the mixture thoroughly with a spoon. Then take another cup and pour in 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar, or you can squeeze a quarter of a lemon. Take a pH strip and dip it in the baking soda mixture for 2 seconds. . Take another test strip and dip it in the vinegar solution for 2 seconds. You should see noticeable differences in the pH colors. One should be almost dark blue/purple. The other should turn very orange-yellow. This means the strips really work. The reason I gave this product a 2/5 is that while it shows extreme differences in pH measurements it is very difficult to see subtle differences in pH and some colors look very similar to each other and sometimes there can be color stretching when the bottom color looks very acidic and the top color looks very alkaline and there is nothing in the color chart that matches it. So I'm sending it back and buying a counter.
