This review is for the Dell Dock WD15 with 180W USB Type-CI Adapter. I'm very happy with this docking station, but I've only recently bought it and there have been several BIOS updates for the Dell Precision 5510 and several firmware updates for the docking station, so I may have missed any bugs that were fixed in the earlier version became software . BIOS updates for the 5510 are easy to find, but firmware updates for the docking station are not. Check the Dell Support website for BIOS and driver updates by entering your service tag and searching. Select the option to check for updates yourself and click the "See all drivers" link in the "Other ways to find drivers" section at the bottom of the page. and the dock firmware should be under WD15. After updating the firmware and the bios, the docking station works very well. The only issues I've found is when I plug in the USB-C cable, the laptop boots when it was off and my monitors show the correct screens, but my USB keyboard doesn't work until I unlock the Bitlocker passed screen. . This means I have to open the laptop, use the laptop keyboard to enter the bitlocker password, and then close the laptop screen to go back to the dual monitor setup. This leads to another small problem that rarely occurs. After I close the laptop only one of my screens works so I go to the display options and see that the laptop screen is still considered one of my screens so I have to open and close my laptop again for the laptop to open it recognizes the screen is closed. The rest works great. I have two, one for home and one for work. My home uses mini-DP and HDMI for video, ethernet, USB for keyboard and mouse on the back, and USB on the front for an external hard drive. My work uses HDMI and VGA for video, Ethernet, a USB hub on my monitor with keyboard, mouse and USB headset and an engineering tool on the rear ports, USB on the front for external hard drives and USB storage. . That way, each is fully loaded and I haven't had any display issues (other than the easy-to-fix issue I mentioned), speed issues with external drives, or connectivity issues with an external engineering tool I'm interacting with.
