As an Alaskan resident I swap tires/rims on two SUVs for myself and my wife twice a year between our winter gear and our summer gear. I was surprised that the instructions and the label on this plug indicated it was a 12 or 24 volt power supply. It was only advertised as 12 volts so I was nervous about trying 24 volts. I fly RC planes and have a few different LiPo batteries. I have connected a 6000 mAh, 6S LiPo that runs in the 24 volt range. The LED came on and it didn't look like the unit was frying. First I raised the front of the crossover. Raised without problems in about 15-16 seconds. This is the time after you install the jack pad that touches the car. Wow! When I increased it to 12 volts it was much slower, maybe 30 seconds or more. Then I raised the front of my F-150. No problem and it took about 16 seconds for the tire to come loose again! However; I noticed some smoke coming from the LED lighting area. Maybe it's just electronic hacking at maximum voltage. I did not feel any radiant heat from the device. So I tested about half a dozen full climbs on the F-150. The socket worked perfectly and the smoke around the LED was gone. The instructions say it requires a cool down period after 10 minutes of continuous use, so I followed that warning. I used to have an electric scissor jack and it pulled the strings on the first lift. Hopefully this hydraulic unit will be durable over time. My LiPo used less than 1000mAh on half a dozen lifts. So theoretically I can replace tire/rim sets on 9-10 cars with one load. Big capacity. A little strange was that the ball bearing wheels on the underside of the jack made it difficult to attach the jack pad. The wheels are pushed into the device when you jack up the car. This process can change the block position as the jack can tilt slightly and roll forward or backward until the wheels are fully compressed. It wasn't a huge problem, but make sure the pad is positioned correctly and the wheels are fully compressed. The wheels make it easy to roll the device on hard floors or asphalt. It's probably not recommended to lift in mud or slush as it will cause the wheels to stick together and force the wheels into the unit. If you unscrew the rosette to slide it up or down, it goes through quickly as the threads are large, which is a nice feature. The lowest cushion height is probably not suitable for low-slung sedans or sports cars. I only drive 4WD crossovers and 4WD trucks so this is not an issue for me. The LED lighting makes it easier to position the jack. My wife's tires are stored in my garage apartment, so having a mobile tire changer is a huge plus. The jack is supplied without a case or bag. Plug, cord and LiPO fit perfectly in my 16" WORKPRO tool bag. It pairs beautifully with my other bag which holds a Dewalt cordless impact tool, grommets, sockets, extensions, torque wrench etc for complete portability!
