I use a POE camera system for home security and to monitor my home remotely when I'm away for long periods. Overall I was impressed with the Amcrest camera and the 8MP is significantly better than my current 2MP daylight camera in ideal conditions. WDR and other image enhancement features work very well. The night vision was acceptable but I have found that I get a sharper image and better quality with my Dahua Starlight cameras after changing the Amcrest camera in the exact spot where I have my Dahua camera. My Dahua also has longer range night vision. / IR range or increased IR power (don't know what, but noticeable). Finally, the only downside I noticed about the camera was the lack of custom features, particularly the IVS (special term Dahua?) features with line crossing and intrusion detection options. While motion detection is good, there are too many false alarms and with my Dahua cameras I rarely get false notifications as I use IVS features and zoom in on the target to a person's size. Only with motion detection do I get notifications about night lights moving down the driveway, spiders/bugs. etc. If I turn the sensitivity too low, I miss human purpose notifications. I would recommend the 8 megapixel Amcrest camera to those who need basic daylight with superior image quality compared to lower megapixel cameras.
