Great backpack for day hikes

I have just returned from a week long tour of the National Park and surrounding area with my family. This backpack was perfect for that! The 3L water bag was enough for the hikes my kids can do. The main luggage bag is quite roomy and big enough to hold a family dinner. On the outside of the backpack there is a small zip pocket and a fairly spacious mesh pocket. One feature I really like is the two small pockets that are built into the hip belt and can be accessed without removing the pack. They are the perfect size for a snack or card. The backpack distributes the weight very well over the whole body. The semi-rigid foam pads on the back are designed to keep your back cool and I think they do a great job of that. They seemed a little strange at first, but I quickly got used to them. I've found that the hip belt needs to be adjusted almost every time you put things in and out of your pack. The overall shape is sensitive to how full the main pocket is. Because of this, I thought the little elastic loops for holding the adjustment straps, while a good idea, were more trouble than they were worth. All in all, this backpack is perfect for long hikes where you have to take a lot with you. .

Pros
  • Stretch overflow pocket: tuck in quickly or ditch an extra layer.
Cons
  • Overall ok but...
