I got this device to press tofu hard, super hard and super hard so that later I can cut and make wafer sheets. I can actually fit 2 tofu rocks when shrink-wrapped. It does a very reasonable job of pressing the tofu without messing up towels, weights and the like - yay! I had no problem capping the device with two 2" blocks of tofu in a press, but I placed it on the floor so I could get enough body weight pressure behind the lid. The empty, long sides of the feed tray bend after 4-5 pushes. It still works as intended and there is no problem installing the middle tofu holder/drain into the water trap. I wonder if presses with two springs can work better, but I don't know since this one only has one central spring. . I've found that while it's easier to slice lengthwise before pressing, pressing sliced tofu feels a little wobbly. That's because closing the block is a bit like a saw with a central spring. So I resorted to slicing after pressing because although the tofu is harder, pressing feels better.
