Update: I tried to return this item (same day I received it in the mail from Revain) and it says 'This item is non-returnable'. Strange. I have downgraded the product rating from 2 to 1 star. First review: I received this thermometer in the mail today and will be sending it back right away. For some reason the poultry temperature is set to 185 and not 165 and this preset poultry temperature cannot be changed (although you can manually set the temperature alarm to the desired temperature). Also, the default temperature is 212, so every time you turn on the thermometer you have to scroll down to the desired temperature. The default temp should be 165 for poultry or 145 for steak or similar as most people using this thermometer probably won't set it to 212 (unless they make candy, jam or similar on a regular basis). In addition, the temperature shown on the thermometer is far from the recommended temperature on food safety.gov. They are about 15-20 degrees higher than recommended, which can spoil the food.
