We bought this system to keep two of our lab mixes in the garden, the first collar broke in less than a year but I didn't get it and the missed guaranteed date which was my own fault, the second collar the pup ate from our other pup in the yard. We bought two new collars, they worked perfectly for 9 months, the winter hit at the time. The system failed and the dogs were able to leave the property. We tried everything we could but had to buy and install runners/zip ties as we couldn't trust the fence and our dogs to stay in the yard. The snow is melting, it's not freezing anymore and the collars/system are working again! We enjoy spring and summer but then the buttons on the collar stop working - we can't adjust the level or intensity anymore, ok it sucks, I hope nobody fiddled with it before it stopped working. It's winter now and the system/collars have stopped working again, we don't even have much snow, just a light layer that melts in the sun. The second collar partially broke at 1 year 4 months but stopped working both winters. I wish I had just bought and installed a chain link fence in the area we have them, it would save us money and save us from some winter headaches. Now I have to wear sweatpants/ties again this winter. It's not great in the Maine winter, anything below 35-40*F will make it work.
