This mattress is labeled '100% Polyester'. The waterproof shell is made of nylon (unlike other unsafe vinyl materials). like a feeling. When pressed down, it feels like the more expensive Newton Baby mattress. Upon arrival I aired the mattress during the day as it was sealed in a plastic sleeve. After 24 hours the odor was fairly neutral. No Bisphenol-A or Polyphenol fumes that you might find in the memory foam mattress market. I use waterproof Ikea padding, a mattress topper and a thin cotton sheet. With this new mattress, my child sleeps soundly and falls asleep faster. I click it with that attitude and wonder why I didn't buy it right away. For the price, proven baby comfort, and use of baby safe materials, I give it 5 stars!
