Review on πŸ’§ Optimize Water Quality with Omni Corporation Undersink Replacement Cartridge by Mark Dahmer

The filter has been changed!

Updated on 12/2015. This filter has been modified and is too large (larger diameter) for older Omni units including the one I have. Omni Tech told me that the Omni GAC1SS works with older devices, although it's only for taste and smell and doesn't remove other contaminants. My research also shows that Whirlpool WHKF-DB1 and Culligan D-30A filters also work, although I haven't tried either of them. Check out the reviews for the pros and cons of each. After I provided the device model and manufacturer code, Omni was very helpful in telling me which of their filters would work and which wouldn't. They recommend replacing the entire unit after 10 years. I've used the CB1 filter a few times to replace the more expensive CB3 and it works perfectly, although Omni doesn't say anywhere that it's acceptable. I think they would rather sell more CB3 filters. However, if you research cases for different Omni devices, you will find that the one that accepts the CB3 filter is the same as that for the CB1. Of course, the CB3 filter removes more contaminants from the water, but taste and smell are my main concerns and the CB1 is a carbon filter that does the job well. Unfortunately, when I went to use the filter and removed all the packaging, I saw that the filter was cracked. I had no choice but to install it with a crack since the old one was thrown away and I didn't want to bother with trading it in. Seems to be working fine. So my only complaint was the condition of the filter, not how it worked.

Pros
  • Replacement water filter under the sink
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model
