I have been working in IT for over 20 years. I've configured more routers than I can count. I've been using ASUS products for many years and haven't had any major problems. That's all you need to know about this router. 1) The first thing you should do is update the firmware. That's more important than you think. 2) Configure it manually after a full update. It's not difficult, so don't be intimidated. Setup is very easy and the only difficult decision might be what to name the SSID and whether or not to broadcast it. 3) Then activate everything in this order. First restart your modem. And wait for the network connection. Second, turn on the router. The router needs a public IP address to connect to the internet. This address will appear as the WAN address on the router's dashboard page. It will also tell you if you are connected to the network. 4) Reboot all devices connected to the router. Not every device needs to be restarted, but it's good practice. Some caveats: Depending on the provider, smart plugs may need to be disconnected and then reconnected. Assuming your SSID is the same as the previous router, the ports should connect. If the SSID has changed, you will need to run the specific plugin setup again. I have 3 Alexas and 2 of them are connected to the router with no problems. But one had to be dropped. The last thing you need to do is back up your router configuration and keep it in a safe place.
