My HP 8600 printer gave the dreaded "Printer or ink system problem" message. I was watching a video on YouTube and then came across this article. This worked fine for me. If you read the instructions, it says that the printhead should be immersed in a solution no thicker than 2mm. I took an old rubber bowl and turned it upside down. The bottom of the bowl is slightly concave, which is enough to immerse 2mm of liquid. So I placed the printhead in the liquid on the inverted bowl. After 8 hours I brought the syringe to the 4 colored holes and squeezed out the liquid. The last time I left the printhead overnight, the next day I put it in the sun for about an hour to make sure it was completely dry. I put it back in the printer and everything is fine. The printer says it doesn't align but it could just be my printer and I don't mind as the print looks fine. Thanks to this product I don't have to buy a new printer.
