Doesn't work: Video cable

The cable seems thick and well made. I was wrong. By plugging it in, the monitor or TV doesn't know anything is on (just that it's plugged in). From the computer side, it assumes the monitor is connecting and disconnecting every 3 seconds and you can't do anything until you unplug the cable. What a joke, how can you ruin a $30 cable?
