My husband usually prefers an exfoliating face wash because he feels it makes his face and beard extra clean. Sometimes mild exfoliating facial cleansers do little to no exfoliation. It had a little but not much. You could definitely feel the bullets, but they weren't abrasive at all. (which is probably better for your skin anyway!) So, if you're looking for something "scrubbing," you won't get it with this toner. The toner is very thick and lotion-like. It can be applied like a cream and does not foam too much. It's a bit difficult to rinse off, but after a full rinse, skin is SUPER hydrated. My husband said it softened his skin before shaving so he definitely appreciated it! The scent is not masculine at all. To me it smells like a mix of liquid foundation and lotion. The smell is very lotiony, maybe a little medicinal. It is by no means a terrible smell, just very soothing and soothing. Anyone looking for a moisturizing facial toner, maybe even a little before shaving, should be very happy with this product. It definitely soothes dehydrated, dry skin and leaves it silky smooth.
