And in the normal scrolling mode, the sound is very loud and, to put it mildly, not very pleasant. It's like someone is trying to start their old chainsaw under your window. (I compared the sound of the wheel with the A4Tech X7, where it is almost completely inaudible). The sound of the main keys is as loud as possible. You are unlikely to be able to work if someone is sleeping next to you. Your insides rattle like you're holding a maracas.
