Review on πŸ“Ί Enhance Your TV Experience with Nyrius 5.8GHz Wireless Video & Audio Transmitter & Receiver (NY-GS10) for RCA Cable by Justin Frazier

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good remote extender and video repeater; but limited range

I bought these 5.8GHz video/audio transmitters to replace some old 2.5GHz transmitters. The Nyrius NY-GS10 system works quite well. It was nice not having interference from microwaves. I always had to turn my old VCRs off when using the microwave, but with these systems, that's not necessary. I also like the remote control extension built into the Nyrius NY-GS10; it works very well and even better than the standalone system (Rabbit) I used before. It's nice to have a remote extender and relayed video in one device. The picture quality of the Nyrius NY-GS10 is very good for composite video. On the other hand, these devices don't have the same range as my old 2.5GHz system and seem limited to around 20 feet if they have to go through a single wall or floor. Another strange thing is that there is quite a bit of audio noise in this system. This is especially true when there is no audio in the signal. For example, when I use this system to stream playback from my DVR, every time I fast-forward the DVR there is no audio and the Nyrius NY-GS10 seems to increase the audio noise to loud levels. This noise then returns to normal when the audio signal returns. Overall I'm happy and it makes me more independent from the cable thugs, but I wish the transmission range of this system was big enough to broadcast throughout my house (currently it doesn't).
