I bought this cable to connect my thunderbolt dock to my laptop so the protruding cable doesn't stick out the side of the 3 inch laptop and possibly on something gets stuck and possibly break the USB-C connector. I now have a nice dongle with a right angle connector that only sticks out 3/4" from the side, and my heavy Thunderbolt Dock cable is neatly tucked away in the back of the laptop. At first I tried a couple of right angle adapters, but the dongle is much better and makes for less port strain.I liked it so much that I bought a second one for my other laptop. The build quality seems very good and the USB-C fits very well on either end should be I've included a few photos so you can see the setup and better understand the reason for purchase.Right angle keys are needed so things don't stick out to the side.I tested a USB-C external enclosure that was in solid condition NVME drive with and without this right angle button, and benchmarking showed no slowdown in read/write speeds.Speed I could only get Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.2 Measure speeds. You need to test your Thunderbolt 3 devices to see if there is a speed difference. I'm not sure if this is actually a certified Thunderbolt 3 cable, but it seems to meet my needs. Pros: Good build quality, takes the strain off your ports, fits things you plug and unplug frequently to reduce wear and tear on your laptop port. Disadvantages: none.
