I spent $1300 on a laptop only to be able to amortize it in 3 months. One day everything worked fine, and the next day I got the error message "no boot device found". After calling HP and running some diagnostic tests, they found that the hard drive was not installed. I sent my laptop to HP for repair (free of charge). A day later I was told I would have to pay $498.95 for the repair due to "accidental damage". I only use my laptop for school work and haven't had a laptop for a long time. Also, the back panel can't be removed without tools, so I don't see how I could damage the hard drive. After some research, it turned out that this is a common mistake within the brand. As I am studying at an online school, I have few options at the moment. It's very frustrating that I have to pay almost $1800 (total) for something that didn't work out in 6 months. I've used HP laptops religiously in the past, but the experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I expect higher quality when I spend so much money. Beware!
