The light goes out as soon as the grill is hot. a convenient lock allows you to press the lid, make a sandwich or whatever you fry there, flatter and so that it cooks faster. we liked it as a unit for parties with friends - no need to stand at the stove, just fill the cutlet inside and fry the burger.
