After working with a plastic brush and water for a few days I bought this to remove plaster residue and "bits" that come up after plastering of a very old brick wall. This completed the project quickly and did not damage the mortar in the joints themselves. I will still use a cleaning brush and water to bring the bricks to a shine but this tool saved me weeks of work the hard way. Note: Although this wire brush didn't work the grout into the brick wall, I'm pretty sure we have a new type of grout compared to the old lime-sand mix that probably would NOT handle 9000rpm. a tool that is a softer mortar than masonry cement. As a previous reviewer mentioned, you'll need to cover your face, protect your eyes, and if you're using it in dusty conditions, a NIOSH-approved filter mask. *sigh* Off-topic: seems like Revane still thinks Knoxville is in Tunisia.
