I need something discreet to document my neighbor's dog barking. She claims I "exaggerate" the situation, her other neighbor is legally deaf so my word is against her to the HOA board. I hope there's evidence, ma'am. (I'm an animal lover and have 2 well trained dogs so don't judge me for not wanting to be woken up by a yapping demon before sunrise.) My only real complaint is not being able to set the date/time to work . Each time it resets to the 2019 date/time. That makes it hard to prove that it was actually 5:13 am when the dog started barking outside my bedroom window. I'm an experienced computer user, so I'm quite familiar with creating/saving text files. Date and time complaints aside, I think this could be a great product. It's easy to hide - I use a small piece of Velcro to attach it to the trunk of a silk tree in my covered patio. He is invisible to those who do not know what he is. Voice control works well. He showed up a couple of times at night and was clearly fixing the cars/sirens. In the early morning, next to the animal dog, even a bird sang. Recordings are clear, it picks up "white noise" from outside as I would expect, but birds, dogs and other common sounds are very clear and easily identifiable. Connecting to a laptop to access files is very simple and straightforward. I wouldn't record my next album on it, but this recorder isn't designed for that. If I can't get the date/time right I'll return it as I need to prove when the events occur. . Otherwise it does its job well. UPDATE EDIT: I have a date/time function to work with. If I had just edited/saved the existing time.txt file with the correct date and time, it wouldn't have worked. If I delete or rename the existing file and create a NEW time.txt file, it works like a charm! Follow the prompts to enter information, but make sure to create a new file. I gave another star!
