The broad, spongy tip fell apart after minimal use

I returned it on September 25, 2016 but only used it recently. After several uses of the broad sponge tip, the protective fabric covering the porous head of the sponge began to tear. I rubbed it onto the back of two small 6" x 4" paper labels. However, the glue itself is pretty good on the paper. It has strong adhesion without the glue seeping through the paper. Maybe I have a lemon. No one else seems to have had this problem.
