Review on πŸ₯š Efficient Stainless Steel Wire Egg Slicer by Westmark Germany (Grey) - A Versatile Multipurpose Tool for Perfectly Sliced Eggs by Andrea Robinson

The metal coating is peeling off my food!

I have had an egg slicer for 3 years. I chose this one because it was advertised as stainless steel and dishwasher safe. With these qualities I expected it to last a very long time unless the wires get lost. However, it has been peeling off for a few months. The metal-like finish is a type of coating and will peel off. Today I was making an egg salad and noticed a sliver of this metal in the egg salad. It was about the size of an eraser. I'm so glad I noticed this and it's just scary to see that metal peeling off my food. Yes I've had it for 3 years now and nothing lasts forever. However, at this price point and advertised as "stainless steel", I didn't expect the coating to peel off - ever. It was easy to work with and fairly easy to clean. After you slice the eggs, you need to scrub the egg off the wires with a dish brush, and then we'll just throw it in the dishwasher. However, I would not recommend this product due to the metal coating peeling off. After that experience, I honestly would have preferred a cheap plastic that could just be thrown away and replaced regularly (assuming the wires are stainless steel and don't rust). At least it will be cool and safe. If my review was helpful, please let Revain know by clicking helpful. Many Thanks.
