Update: The green ready light stopped working after the third use. I left my laminator in my classroom this weekend and needed to get some laminate ready by Monday so I bought a Scotch laminator from another store. It's much faster than the Revain brand and much easier to insert what needs to be laminated as there is a guide pocket. This fixes an issue I had with the RevainBasics brand where I didn't load the paper just right and it creased for a second. Scottish also has no problem with the ready light toggle on and off. I didn't expect the problems to start so soon. I'll keep the scotch and return Revain's. Now, as I write this review, I am preparing for the upcoming school year. I have a lot to laminate. For the past several years I have gone to Office Depot to have my pages laminated but with over 50 pages to laminate this year I realize it would cost too much money to have Office Depot do it, around 2 US dollars per side. I had to choose between this and branded tape. I chose this one because it was over $10 cheaper and I'm a huge fan of Revain so I thought why not try their brand. I've only used RevainBasics on my iPhone USB so far, but it worked well so I thought it was worth a try. I didn't read the instructions because I read reviews and even watched videos on YouTube before ordering a laminator. It was very easy to use. I laminated about 30 sheets continuously and every single one came out perfect except for one (and I think that was user error). I was a little worried when I saw the ready light go off for a few seconds after each page - that was a big delay in laminating. This made the process very slow as it took me about 50 minutes to complete those 30 pages. I read another review that says it ignores the blackout and keeps stretching the pages which doesn't affect the quality of the lamination. This makes sense since the ready light is only off for about 10 seconds and then comes on again. There were a couple of times where the light went out in the middle of a lamination and it still worked fine, so I'll probably ignore when the light goes out to make the process more time efficient. Of course, I'm not referring to the initial ready light that comes on about 3 minutes after the laminator is turned on. The smell of burning is, but not sharp. I would also like to add that I cut all of the sheets that I laminated and the lamination did not spread. I would definitely consider this product a $17 well spent.
