Perfect fix for those broken Chrysler electronic cooling fans

When my girlfriend's Grand Cherokee overheated we assumed the thermostat was stuck so I bought a new thermostat and installed it. Next the fan assembly needed to be tested by connecting a few wires between the battery and the fan connector. The fan worked! Enter this part. Ordered and delivered two days later. I removed the headlight as shown in the YouTube video and found that the original has been replaced at least once. Dorman recommends replacing the wire harness with a new one, and the old one looked like one of the pins was darker, so I cut and stripped all the wires. NOTE: Cell phones are great here. I took a picture of the wire harness before I cut the wires, so connecting the right wire to the right wire was a breeze. Installation took about an hour, I made sure all the connections were tight. I think the only way this part could be better is if it also included shrink wrap so everything would be waterproof. However, this requires a heat source, so it's probably safer without it. The fan worked great after installation! In the early 2000's Grand Cherokees they used vacuum lines to control the cabin vents as well as the cruise control. Many people have found that once one of these lines breaks, the system defaults to defroster and no longer functions as cruise control. (Or they'll pay a mechanic a bunch of money to track it down) Anyway, if you remove the headlight, you'll see a vacuum canister behind the headlight with a rubber hose connecting it and a plastic tee. I accidentally checked while changing the relay and saw a broken, dry, rotten hose. 50 cents later and not only is my girl's fan working, but her heater and cruise control are working perfectly again!
