I am a therapist with 25 years of experience. and it's a great tool. I was skeptical for my first 24 years (I had crazy old-school Asian shiatsu teachers who said if you want to work your thumbs, do push-ups), so my thumbs are very strong, I never wanted to use that, though it's been there for years thinking it was some kind of heavily plasticized texture, in fact the texture is like rubberized velvety leather so it slides well and feels like skin-to-skin contact. and save your thumbs. The small size is great, I'll be working on two of them at once and using my other fingers to feel the area for contact. This holds the thumb joint very well so it can take some of the force off of it while it transmits force to the patient's muscles. Obviously as the product description says there is only one in the box, the picture shows a large size (blue) and a small size (red) for very thin bone miniature fingers, the small one may be too big but then again if you really are so small I would wonder why you do this type of massage, I doubt you will last very long physically, stick to light relaxation, oncology or geriatric work. Oh yeah, it just occurred to me that a lot of people complain that their partner is tired of doing massages, that would be great too.
