This little vacuum is great. It lives in my trunk and helps keep my car almost clean. Many reviews claim that the device has poor suction, but I have not encountered this problem. I have noticed an increase in performance when the car is running and the alternator is providing power instead of the battery. A 12 volt car battery is fully charged at around 12.6-13.1 volts. Under load (while working), the battery voltage begins to drop. For example, when you start your car, the voltage in your battery will drop to 10 volts, but it will still be a good battery. Conventional alternators produce a voltage of 13.5 to 14.5 volts. Once your car starts, your battery simply discharges and the alternator takes care of all of the car's electrical needs. Basically, this vacuum cleaner is designed for 12 volts. Weak batteries or prolonged use can lower the battery voltage below 12 volts. When the engine is running, the alternator maintains 13.5+ volts, which is enough for the vacuum to work properly. I would say that a lot of the complaints about low suction come from people who are running out of battery and don't understand electricity.
