Review on πŸ•―οΈ Xodus Innovations FPC1525A Window Candle with Dusk to Dawn Sensor and Large Base, Battery Operated LED, Antique Brass/Black by Nichole Morris

2016 model - BIG disappointment

I ordered 3 different Revain window candles to try on my windows, then chose a 'winner' and ordered more of the same type. This candle was the best that me, my mother and my daughter chose. I was delighted to see it in the windows both during the day (it's an attractive candle in its own right) and after dark (it gives off a soft white light that looks quite realistic). The sensor worked perfectly. I returned 2 other "candidates" and ordered 7 more of them. Imagine my horror when none of them would turn on unless the room was completely dark. When the light was on in the room, the candle went out. In other words, the candles won't burn until we're all in bed! After experimenting, we found that the sensor only lights candles when we wrap our fingers around the entire candlestick. Hm? I contacted the company and after a few emails I found out that they had changed their design this year. Instead of a directional sensor (determining light/darkness only outside the window), the sensor now detects light from all directions. I have no idea why this design is currently in use. This makes candles totally unsuitable for use as window candles. My husband suggested I wrap tape around the candlesticks to fool the sensor and then manually turn them on and off each night. Um, no thanks. They were returned and I still miss them! The original sample I tried was really great.
