Most of my body jewelry is surgical steel and I've never had a problem. I bought them and within hours of wearing them, my septum piercing became very inflamed and painful, like an allergic reaction. I don't know what they're made of, but I have a feeling if they really were surgical steel I wouldn't have such a bad reaction.
