It can work but with limitations
They might be useful but I'm sure they're indoors. I put them on top of my RV tent and if I was careful they all fell off when I set them up anyway. If one goes, all go. Clamps aren't that strong, especially if what you're attaching them to is flat and slippery (tent as advertised). I think I'll buy some cheap alligator clips that have more holding power. I can't imagine how fast they fall off in light winds.
