I was very impressed that we received an email from BebeEarth thanking us for the order and very detailed instructions on how to apply and use the protective strips. They recommended putting them on 12-24 hours before baby gets near them! It seems to take several hours for the adhesive on the tape to fully cure. We ordered a large size for our large wooden coffee table. We are grandparents taking care of our ten month old granddaughter. We wanted to protect her now while she pulls herself up to get up, but we didn't want to give up our coffee table! My husband applied the strips on a Saturday morning while the baby was with our daughter over the weekend. The real test will be when the little one comes to our house on Monday morning - we hope she doesn't even notice the safety piping! It goes very well with our dark brown table. We used additional corner railings and left an edge for some other pieces of furniture. UPDATE: The child returned to our home two days later and after a week did not notice the edge of the table at all. And when the women's book club met at my house, no one spoke out loud. so I think it looks very inconspicuous!
