I bought these to set a portable bar out of a whiskey cask on the ground so it could be easily wheeled across concrete floors. I thought they work great when moving materials in the ball up position, so why not flip? I read the warnings in some of the other reviews and realized they were being overly cautious. Trust them, they don't work like wheels unless you have perfectly smooth concrete floors with no check seams or cracks. Due to the point loading at the very tip of the ball and not aligned like a normal wheel, they leave marks on both concrete and wooden floors. The narrow gap between the body and the ball also means they clog easily with debris on the ground, although I haven't had this problem with sawdust when used in the correct orientation. Conclusion: DO NOT USE THEM AS WHEELS!
