It could be so great, but it's not here yet

UPDATE: I have contacted the company several times in different ways and have not received any response from them. Right now I'm not going to risk them being needed for anything after the 30 day window and then not responding, so that's coming back. I ordered this unit and the Sonnet 750ex after getting tired of dealing with driver issues and intermittent crashes with another eGPU I've had for a while. These two units were obviously better than the other. Sonnet's sealed case design meant my GPU didn't fit - despite being under the maximum reference they listed (I borrowed another GPU to stuff in for testing, hence my other comments here). I also had some audio issues when using it for some reason. Based on those two issues, it's back, but I assume it might work well enough for many. This Mantiz Saturn Pro II was very stable. Unfortunately, the case fan and PSU fan run all the time, and the former is loud enough that I don't think I can leave it on. I suppose adding Noctua, beQuiet or a similar fan would help, but it's not necessary. As for the PSU fan, I read that it should turn off at light load, but not in my case. I have contacted the manufacturer twice about these two issues to see if there is a defect or an available solution and I have received no response. At the end of this week this one will be back and I will probably continue to use my existing one. If the manufacturer had responded and could help calm this thing down or confirm an anomaly that is causing the fan to run all the time, I would rate it a lot higher.

Pros
  • I hold my fists
Cons
  • There are problems
