this thing was amazing. for 6 months. This is my fourth kettle, although this is my first time buying Ovente. They usually last 3 or 4 years. This Ovente only lasted 6 months. As for the white coating on the bottom of the kettle; All kettles do this. These are mineral deposits from your water. It's easy to remove, just boil some vinegar (about half a cup) in some water. Make sure you have enough water to cover the inside of the white spot. Then rinse it after heating water/vinegar. It's simple and harmless. I've done this with all the teapots I've bought, from all different brands. BUT. Rust showed up about a month ago. Red-brown rust all around. It's not something you can/should/not remove with vinegar. If the rust wasn't severe enough, I could smell a strong odor of burnt plastic the last time I turned it on. It was terrible. Assuming the smell was coming from the bottom of the teapot, I foolishly took a sip of tea anyway. and yes, my tea tasted terribly disgusting. like burnt plastic Regarding the warranty, there is no phone number on the site, only an email. I wrote you a letter a week ago. still waiting for an answer. I'll be happy to update my review with more runs as they fix this issue. I see they have a glass teapot version that I can try if they reimburse me for this rust filled fire hazard.
